About Friedman College Consulting

Friedman College Consulting is an independent educational consulting business based in New York City, founded and led by me, Sydney. I am dedicated to providing personalized, holistic, and high-quality guidance to high school students navigating the college admissions process. Through expert advising, strategic planning, and customized support, I aim to reduce the stress and uncertainty of college applications while empowering students to make informed decisions about their post-secondary education.

I was raised in Southern California and attended public High School. Growing up in a "Big 10" household gave me the motivation to leave California to the Midwest. I attended University of Wisconsin - Madison, studying History and International Studies, was a member of the Chi Omega fraternity, volunteered extensively at the Wisconsin State Historical Society and enjoyed everything that beautiful Madison had to offer.

Once I graduated, I swiftly moved to The Big Apple and began my career in Information Management and Systems at a Media Company as a UX Designer before applying to Graduate School. I attended UC Berkeley's School of Information and received my degree in Info Management and Systems. In moving back to New York, I realized my love for creating systems and beautiful interfaces in ecommerce. After ten years of working for companies such as Coach, Inc., I realized that I was missing working one-on-one with people.

In turning to my friends and family, I discovered a part of my life that was always there in plain sight, College Consulting. My mother Ellen has been a successful college consultant out of California for over 15 years. Having worked with hundreds of students, she has been involved in Friedman College Consulting from the ground-up. I have worked under her mentorship for two years while pursuing my College Counseling Certificate at UCLA Extension. She brings years of knowledge and experience to Friedman College Consulting and is a partner in college list-building for all of my students across the nation.

I work remote with all of my students and have worked with students in California, Colorado, Georgia, New York, Texas - some of the most competitive states for college admissions. I work with ScholarMatch a nonprofit organization for first-gen college applicants as well as WHEDCo as a commitment to giving back.

I am a runner, weightlifter and Martial Arts practitioner in my free time and love everything that New York City has to offer.
